So... My good friend, Jamylan is certain he looks exactly like Chief Keef. He even requested we address him as Chief Keef. Seems legit...

I wonder about a lot of things. A lot of things. All of the time. One that particularly haunts me is... why on Earth do my students, who I LOVE soooooo much, take so little pride in their education and most of all, in their self? We had an awards ceremony for the 7th and 8th grader today. I went into it feeling sick to my stomach, because of how I've seen how these "celebrations" of students' success is seen and reacted to in this building over the past 11 years. It. Makes. Me. Sad.
If I had one wish, one wish granted to ME, it wouldn't be for me directly. It would be that the kids I love and pray for all day every day, would value what their teachers work so hard to give them. That they would stop being so difficult to teach and accept the fact that it is OKAY to be smart. It's even OKAY to not understand something. It's OKAY to ask for help. Those who think they are too cool to believe all of this is normal, it is normal. You are the ones who have it wrong. You are the ones who need to change. You are the ones who are disappointing. You are the ones who need to stop holding GLA back. If you don't agree with our philosophy, you are the one that needs to change, not the rest of us. To those of you who are proud of your accomplishments, I couldn't be prouder! You bring me such happiness and fulfillment in my job and my life. You are AMAZING! |
